So the essential question remains unanswered - Will gold be a safe refuge from the storm?

I view what's happening in the US from a class struggle perspective. I think that every society that starts out as nominally "egalitarian" and then acquires wealth from other societies eventually develops an entrenched ruling class. They end up controlling the fertile land and the gold and who cares what floats about as "money".

We're headed to a feudal state, much like what happened in China in the 11th century. Then very soon after, big time decline.

So to survive, we need either huge tracts of land, or gold "eventually". A run into the dollar is being assumed, and it may indeed happen - in the short term.

As always, I'm hedging my bets. 50% in, 50% cash, and hoping I can respond quickly enough as events unfold.

Not exactly excited or even scared, but it is entertaining having a ringside seat to the end of Western hegemony. As one from the wrong end of the English class system, all I can say is that I hope the new guys are better than the old ones, and beyond that...

Bring it on!
