EPA Launching Hydraulic Fracturing Study

In a move that oil and natural gas industry officials hope will put to rest rumblings of congressional action on the issue, the Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday it will conduct a comprehensive, two-year study to investigate the potential risks to drinking water supplies and the environment from hydraulic fracturing operations vital to development of shale gas and other unconventional energy resources.
