Hi Frank - The studies will be done, resulting in a profusion of regulations. Many companies will make a conscientious effort to comply, others won't. Some will just make mistakes.

Nature was fracturing subsurface strata long before us; only when we drill down, pressure up and evacuate NG from these channels will we discover ways in which they are linked. While many strata are stable and well defined, anyone who's had a well "kick" can tell you that disturbing adjoined pressure zones can be unpredictable.

Advances in knowledge, technology, drilling equipment and technique have been impressive.

The drivers are need for relatively clean energy and profit. Everyone will do their best, and we'll move ahead. Inevitably there will be areas that suffer unfortunate and lasting consequences.
