Point is, you brought it up, not me. Now, if I might ask you another question or two or three ...

Yeah, China is making deals with assorted governments, money for resources. And yeah, they obtain political influence around the globe as a result. But other than the fact of some of these governments being rather undemocratic and, in a few cases, perhaps even genocidal (e.g. Sudan), why is this alarming and why is it something you think the UN would be inclined to actually do anything about? Personally, I'm a bit conflicted over whether or not I should worry about China being any kind of threat to us. Do you see some indication that they seek world domination, as opposed to mere economic growth and developed world status? IOW, are they engaging in imperialistic behaviors?

And if they are doing things in Africa that harm the people or the environment there, what makes you think the UN would or could do anything about it? What would you have them do that would have any teeth and, realistically, could they do it given UN politics?
