Corporate giveaways, I've explained. Substituting health benefits - and the taxes - allows corporations to compensate without the same tax consequence.

Lifetime caps are real. Also, annual caps are real. Just because you may not have run into them, doesn't mean they don't bankrupt people who've paid into the system their entire lives.

Insurance companies kick people off and break the law all the time: Message 26391566

If you're against this bill, you must be for the donut hole. This bill plugs that hole

Group insurance DOES consider pre-existing conditions. For small companies, they will take only so many people with certain pre-existing conditions - like diabetes. I've seen it happen.

The reason to force everyone to buy insurance - the part decried as 'socialism' by those on the right, even the hypocrite Mitt Romney - is necessary if you also force companies to accept everyone. It is a provision that is welcomed by the insurance company as a means of both covering those with pre-existing conditions and to keep costs down.

Surveys have shown that people like the individual benefits of this bill, but have been brainwashed with hyperbolas like 'socialism'. I believe this is why the Republicans fought so hard against it - because, once implemented, people will see that it actually has a lot of good ideas, some that originate with conservatives (which pisses off some liberals). It is a far cry from a national universal system, but is a good mix of right and left.
