I have had a lot of exposure to and experience with TX and that coupled with its politics and its contribution of GW Bush has caused me to form negative opinions of the place. While my comments were never meant as a personal attack on you, if you choose to see them that way that is your perogative.
Why do you and some other Americans see a way to define what is wrong with this country as defined by Texas? Does 'liberals' bashing on Texas make any more sense or do anymore good than those on the 'right' who trash a long time home of mine, SF? Does NYC when it stops for no reason 1/2 a million people, mostly vastly mostly young men of color, every year for no reason, frisking them and sometimes throwing them to the ground... make that a wonderful liberal place to live? you don't like how people in TX vote in the Senate, or how they do their textbooks, but they do less harm to immigrants than Arizona does.
So what is the point of not dealing with national issues, but trying to create an us against them? and perhaps it might occur that Alabama is almost 30 percent black not simply because they can't afford to move. and perhaps someone you speak to online, who is a liberal, happened to be born in TX and when people here spend a great deal of time trashing the entire state for the actions of some in the state, they are also trashing me. in otherwords, T, I am not so defending TX as letting you know that I realize you simply do not like me as Texan anymore than some on the 'right' like because I lived in and love SF.
BTW, CA gave us Nixon and Reagen. wtf would defend CA? oh, and that whole prop 8 thing. and the 3 strike law that has so many people of color in the state locked up for life. |
