<Surely you're not saying that all this was made up ...?> My mother, who is as white and upper middle class as they come -- was the Chariperson of an old folks home that was built and donated to a foundation by my grandfather. A nurse was trying to organize a union and my mother was upset. When I was visiting her one day she took me aside and in hushed tones told me that she had been told by my brother in law that he knew for a 'fact' that the nurse had been recruited by the KGB, sent to Russia for training, and was now a KGB agent on a mission to organize a union at her old folks home. Bottom line -- once you realize that people will believe any sort of horseshit whatsoever, no matter how ludicrous, if it plays to their fears and prejudice then you will pull out all the stops and just lard on one layer of innuendo on top of another and refer to it all as a mountain of 'facts' -- and that is exactly what the foul smelling extreme right wing idiencia is doing to what is left of the Republican party. It is as healthy for America as eating lead paint for breakfast -- but each to their own.
