Perfect, Joe....thanks to you and Nadine....That thought and that from JXM makes it easy to stay out of the weeds, when some folks talk about "it's a "Right" to have health care..."food" on the table, etc..
Our Constitution was founded on God Given Rights. It doesn't say that we owe others a living, although most of us either do charity work, or give money for others in our stead if we are working. I've always been willing to help others less fortunate than myself, but on the other hand, if they are able bodied, I want them to pick themselves up by the bootstraps as soon as they can, and learn how to provide for themselves, and to help others along the way. And by in large, most people do just that!
The very thought of generations of people in the same family groups on welfare or other social aid is really just repugnant to me.
"God helps them that help themselves" is a good thing to live by.... |
