A terrific UFC pay per view this weekend. The main event, in my wee mind, was Mir vs. Carwin. Carwin clubbed him senseless, after all the hype about Frank putting on a huge amount of muscle weight and his new, improved punching power. Kudos to him, assuming he did it cleanly, but new muscle is not as good as old muscle when it comes to fighting. It takes a while for the reflexes to get used to its new toys. Carwin has had his strength for many years.

Can Carwin beat Lesnar? In general, Division II NCAA wrestling champs do not beat Division I champs. But there is going to be a lot of punching before they get to the wrestling and Carwin looks like he can punch harder than Brock. Neither guy looks like he has very much in the way of defensive skills against a punch, so it could be over early.

Your boy, B.J. Penn will defend his Lightweight title in April. The guy he is fighting, Frank Edgar, is a good fighter, but doesn't look, IMHO, to be of championship caliber.
