From that perspective, the real damage Bush did was swing our projected budgets by $10 trillion, from $5 trillion surplus to $5 trillion deficits. How did he do that? Well, simple math tells you he must have done a combination of tax decreases and increased spending that resulted in an impact of $1 trillion per year over a 10 year period. So back of the envelope, Bush handed Obama a $1 trillion deficit run rate.

Exactly what he did. He started two wars, passed two tax cuts, a Medicare PartD entitlement bumped up discretionary spending like a drunken sailor and did it all on a credit card...
