True. Fringes of all kinds are pretty freaky, left or right. The only difference is that the fringe right have taken over the GOP. This GOP is not the same as the GOP I have voted for all my life. The Dems on the other hand have folks from the far left all the way to moderate Dems and a a whole big chunk of the Independents. You can count me as an Independent now that I started voting Dem recently. I've come to the conclusion that I won't vote for parties anymore. I'll vote for qualified candidates with good ideas. I don't care which party they belong to. But what I'm seeing in the GOP are crazy people. Steele is a buffoon. Boehner and McConnell are strategically worthless and hopelessly out of touch with the mainstream. Then the most visible elements of the GOP are Beck, Palin, and Limbaugh, all of them wack jobs. Then the more moderate GOP members are getting swept out of the party bit by bit. Powell's gone. McCain is endangered. Romney is on life support, since he passed a bill in Mass. that looks just like what Obama signed.

Yeah, the GOP is in trouble.
