Glenn Reynolds: MORE VIOLENCE: Brick thrown through window of Howell, MI GOP office. I blame the hate-filled extremist rhetoric of Democratic politicians and pundits. Posted at 8:44 am by Glenn Reynolds
Tuesday, March 30, 2010 TheBlogProfessor: Brick thrown through window of Howell, MI GOP office Somehow, this is Bush's fault. Or Palin's. Or the tea party's.
From The Detroit News: A brick was tossed through the window at a Michigan Republican Party office in Howell over the weekend in what party officials said today "appears to be politically motivated violence."
Gee - ya think?
No one was hurt and nothing apparently was taken, a party spokeswoman said. The message "long live the USA, God bless the USA" was scribbled on the brick, officials said. The Livingston County Sheriff's office is investigating.
It's hard to believe that an angry liberal would write any such thing, unless it was meant to be sarcastic. If this were an isolated incident, I would think this could be the work of hooligans takling advantage of political upheaval. Alas, there is more that dims such a prospect:
The brick-throwing incident may be related to vandalism at Republican offices across the country, including a campaign office of U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor and the Republican Party headquarters in Albemarle County, Va., officials said.
Cantor's office was shot at and his life threatened. We're not talking about angry constituents wishing him ill, something I believe all politicians put up with at some point in their careers, but rather actual tangible threats. From Philly.com:
Phila. man charged with threatening GOP congressman A Northeast Philadelphia man was charged with threatening the life of a Virginia Congressman and his family in an Internet video he had studded with Old Testament references and in which he referred to the "final Yom Kippur."
Norman Leboon, 38, of the 1600 block of Benner Street in Mayfair, was charged by the U.S. Attorney's office in Philadelphia with two counts involving threats against U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor (R., Va.), the Republican House whip.
Leboon was arrested Saturday by the FBI, three days after his YouTube video was seen by someone in San Francisco and reported to the FBI.
Missed that video on YouTube. In any case, the MSM - the very same MSM that missed Ken Gladney getting beat up by SEIU union thugs at a townhall protest - is still busy painting the tea party crowd as the ones spewing violence. Natch. |
