Western Atlas (WAI) is the number two logging company which is responsible for downhole petrophysical evaluation of the wellbore. They follow only the likes of SLB. HAL is #3. The past few weeks IMO Western has had the spinoff of UNOVA hanging over their head. This was their automation division which was valued at over 1.5 B $. The market was not sure how this would be accepted. However, the spinoff was effective Monday and UNOVA started trading separately. Western also has deep water seismic recording and processing division.
