Got another question for the collected wisdom here.

Am holding several positions, in a US IRA account that I think may have a pretty good year from here.

These include Entree Gold, MMG, NGD warrants, Connacher Oil...

Anybody done any Roth conversions?

As I understand it, IRA holdings can be converted to Roth with the price at time of conversion taxed as ordinary income.

If any of these things go very well, moving them to a Roth here and paying tax on the current share price might be a good idea.

Also, there is feature of this strategy called recharacterization that allow you to move them back to the ordinary IRA with the whole thing being transparent as a taxable event if you decide not to keep them in the Roth.

Anybody ever do any of this?
