There is no shortage of oil right now and world production keeps dropping almost linearly no matter how many new finds are discovered... At the moment the world recession is slowing oil consumption... Producing more oil will only drain it faster and we will have no reserves to back us up until we really do have alternatives. The drill baby drill philosophy is short sighted... There are already millions of acres with drilling permits that have not been touched and if you look at the number of drilling rigs in operation you would find the numbers dropping as the economy and oil demand has faded...
