They did. That's what the market exchanges are for. However, more could have been done admittedly. And btw, I'm against a public option. I don't think that bring more private competition when you introduce government competition.

If they really want to drive more competition in the health care and insurance industry, they need to develop Federal regulations instead of allowing the hodge podge of state regulations that make it more difficult for companies to do business across state lines. But then all the GOP folks would come out of the woodwork complaining about Federal encroachment on states rights. So again, there has to be compromise to get to a full solution.
