Someone on these threads recently asked for a lawyer's take on why Amati may be trying to disavow or distance itself from information being posted on Motley Fool and elsewhere on the internet as originating from the company.

Here is my take. First, Amati officers may have previously provided information that was either inaccurate or premature. If they did this, it is a no no.

Second, even if the information is accurate, Amati and other publicly-traded companies are required to disseminate company-related information in a nondiscriminatory and fair manner. Well-timed press releases or disclosures in periodic SEC filings are the responsible ways of disseminating information to the investing public. Providing important information to one or two callers to the investor relations department who then post the information on Motley Fool is not the best way to go about it.
