Israel is the only country in the Middle East that has the same respect for human rights that America does, so naturally they would be our closest ally there. We certainly can't support the other side which believes in the destruction of civilians including Americans(9/11). I can still vividly remember Palestinians dancing in the streets and tossing out candy on 9/11.
