He evidently chooses the half of his genes that abandoned him...which means to me that he is always wanting to belong, but feels excluded. He also lived in Indonesia with a Muslim stepfather from Indonesia during his impressionable years. In addition, don't forget he 'sat in the pew' for 20 years enduring Rev Jerimiah Wright's bombastic rants too. He of course, did this by choice. No one tied him into the pew.

I would have written in multi-racial were I in his position. It strikes me as extremely odd that he would forsake half his genetic background and almost 100% of his upbringing.
