Not sure what challenge you're refering to. Is it the discussion of rights?

I still think rights are primarily a legal thing granted to a group (usually citizens) by something more powerful than them (usually a government, and usually via enacting laws which protect the rights granted by the government). Who says we have the right to an attorney? The government and our legal system. Who says driving is a privilege, not a right? The government and our legal system. Who says we have the right to bear arms? The bill of rights, which got enacted by the government, and is the supreme law of the land. Who gave women the right to vote in the early 1900s? The government.

People have posted that the government cannot grant rights, it can only take them away. That's clearly not true since all the so called "rights" which we receive as American citizens are delineated in American law, or interpretation thereof by the court system, and have all been created by American governments at some point in the past.

I don't know if this is what you were posting about, but that's my 2 cents from last night's discussion on the topic.
