I understand your view, but saying you will not run or saying nothing , ala Hillary clinton etc. is what they do at this level in politics. It is important to build up the demand and the interest. IMO, Petraeus as president with Pawlenty as VP would be a very strong team against the obama-biden. Personally, if I were him, I would not run. Instead, I would pour a quality glass of wine, drop in my favorite chair and closely review the endless CEO offers after announcing my retirement from Uncle Sam's army.
