April 4 (Bloomberg) -- U.K. Business Secretary Peter Mandelson said he expects “more humilty” from banks.

Asked in a Sky News interview about the remuneration of Robert Diamond, president of Barclays Plc, Mandelson said “I don’t mind people being rewarded for success. What is Mr Diamond doing? He is making deals not building business.”

“Don’t go on provoking the public in this way,” Mandelson urged the banks, adding that they have a long way to go before they recover public sympathy.
