My huge brain? Christine, this may surprise you, but my brain is not significantly larger or smaller than anyone else's. Do not misunderstand me, here. We are none of use equal in ability. The primary difference is that John Galt KNOWS he has a brain...the most sophisticated and productive information integrator and processing mechanism known to man. For this, John Galt is often derided as arrogant and self-centered, when it is simply self-confidence supported with a substantial knowledge base.
As for John Galt's analogy of slapping the children, the children represented come young and old. These children's brain development
is far removed from its' intended potential. John Galt knows the
evangelicals and altruists alike need to be spanked on occassion with
the severest of rational thought.
John Galt agrees that bad parenting is rampant. However, if done
properly, an occassional smack on the good ole' behind may prevent
a child from running into a busy street, and, hence save his life.
