One thing I've noticed is that the GOP and members on these threads who are typically associated with the GOP are fighting tooth and nail to not be associated with the Tea Party.

I sure don't read it that way, at all.

There has been a tug of war in the GOP for a while between the purists and those who want to be a majority party. We saw that most recently in the flap over Frum, who is a leader in the latter camp. Best I can tell, the purists, who are the core of the party, love the Tea Party.
