Re: the ONLY thing "unique" about the tea party folks is the NOISE they make. They go to every place where cameras are present and yell a lot.

I don't see that as especially 'unique', (although we don't necessarily see it each and every political season).

America has a FINE OLD WELL-TRODDEN TRADITION of boisterous uprising (often of a 'populous' nature... after all, Democracy gives more free rein to such then most other political systems do), and I believe it is a very healthy thing.

One of the first such that I recall (in the American context) was the "Whiskey Rebellion" in the early years of our new nation... although there have been many since....

Re: "I read the story of a tea party guy that went on Soc. Sec. so he could be a LEADER in the teaparty movement. This guy WENT on the government teat so he could be a leader AGAINST the government teat."

I believe that might be described as "expediency".

(Although my personal favorite were the many hand-lettered signs I saw last year at various gatherings saying "Keep your government hands off of my Medicare" and "No SOCIALISM! Don't touch Social Security!". <g>)
