The other factor has been that growth in demand for electricity has been decelerating almost every year over the past decade, regardless of economic growth. Credit better efficiency and in the past few years, the ongoing switch to modern lighting. There's still another order of magnitude jump in efficiency to be had in that area once LED lighting spreads.
