Naive?
I am many things, but naive is not one of them. We dems took control of the legislature, in a very red state, Alaska, in the 70's by out campaining the Republicans.
While we dems were in power we molded the foundations of an entire state social system including the establishment of a Permanent fund which we put in the constitution that puts 50% of all state natual resources revenue in a fund for the children. The Republicans fought it like hell.
That fund now has over 45 billion and the revenue pays all state expenses. So we pay no state taxes at all in Alaska and everyone get a check for about $1,500 a year.
We fought the Republican's every step of the way to get that permanent fund as they hate big government. Alaska is now in better financial shape, becasue of what the ad hoc dems did in the 70's, than any state in the union with tons, of jos and prosperity.
I was in politics for 30 years, including running three state agencies and helping elect many people including several governors.
You have more experience than that?
>>Had Nader not run, Gore would have won, and what a different world it would be today! No wars, no depression, no large deficit, no torture, no supreme court decision giving carte blanche to the corportions to buy congress people, etc.
Gore may well have won, but your assumptions on how the world would have been, had he won, are totally naive. |
