I have never been to any political rally. Like me, most people get their impressions from what's on TV where they highlight the weirdest, scariest folks. That's the message that is conveyed to the rest of us. Which means that it doesn't matter how nice most of the people are, but rather the message and the message creeps moderates out. That may not be accurate and it may not be fair but that's the way it works. Smart organizations rein in their closet cases rather than flaunt them.
