I didn't know anything about it until you mentioned it, but there was a warning posted to PNW residents in 2004. Not sure I've seen this exact bug, but I've seen bugs that are similar in appearance. There is also a little (and I mean little) fly like bug in our woods that literally stink...........like fecal matter. They are present in the spring for a brief period of time, but I don't think they are nearly as destructive.
