But you won't establish expertise that way...

I'm not trying to establish expertise. I though I had made it perfectly clear that I value reason when assessing input. Expert opinion, unexplained, is not sufficient. If you can't even tell the difference between reasoning and "arm waving," then you are relegated to blindly following claimed authority. That's your loss, IMO.

if you can't use numbers in your argument, you don't have much of an argument...

Talk about tying your own hands behind your back...

I just finished a post to you about how infant and youth deaths skew longevity calculations. It doesn't take much reasoning ability to see how disproportionately infant deaths will affect average life span in some cohort. But you can't grasp that or won't accept it unless it comes with a number? Oh, my!

People process information differently based on their strengths and temperaments. This is normal. Google gives us both a map and sequential directions because some people get from point A to point B better with directions and others by looking at a map. Some people operate effectively either way. Other people can barely get out of bed even with both directions and a map.

You are apparently lower left brain dominant and I am upper right brain dominant, upper left brain secondary, in the pop parlance. Lower left brain is characterized by authority and numbers whereas upper right brain is conceptual and upper left brain is logical. I recognize and accept those differences. You for some reason are hostile to or distrustful of the use of "upper" mechanisms for understanding and explaining. I find that interesting. I will refrain from speculating on why that might be. I will simply accept that it is. But I'm not about to contract for a costly study just to get you a number when simple logic should be sufficient even for those whose skills and preferences lie in other quadrants.
