Maybe, they don't get their homes searched, just as generally people who aren't criminal suspects don't get searched, but just about every other statement they make gets attacked, argued against or questioned. If they said it was bright and sunny outside some people would start filling up sandbags to cope with the flooding from the now expected record rain.
