I think the post you're responding to points out the current disparity in living conditions between the US and other countries.

Either they're heading up or we're falling back. Realistically, where do you think things are going? My opinion is the US will maintain its dominance in perceived standard of living with much newer "higher end" shanties.

I'll believe the polls before the economists that are no more insightful than a magic eight ball.

Nothing's changed in the economy other than a flood of newly minted dollars pushing up the market which is pushing confidence based on perceived wealth on paper only.
