I bet you believe the terrorists are going to kill us all, too. There is no evidence to support this scenario of doom.
If necessary, all real commercial loans could have been guaranteed and new ones issued directly by the Federal Reserve and its minions and overleveraged Wall St. would have crumbled. Since Wall St. is not the real economy, and does not participate in the productive part of the economy, it would not have mattered to the rest of us, except for a few risk-prone municipalities.
