What do you mean "anti-Catholicism"? A rational understanding of the pros and cons of ANYTHING is healthy.
What I see isn't "rational" but a strong emotional antipathy to that church. And I speak as an outsider.
Again, I think you confuse God and Church.
You would be wrong.
Do you think Churches are any more Holy than people?
Obviously not.
ie. Reasons for atheism:
<Fear of a judgmental God is a major one for many. >
OR, an innate knowing that the judgemental god they were taught about doesn't make sense... OR an intellectual understanding that the God they have been taught about can't possibly be... among the many, as you say.
Yeah, it sounds better that way. But if we have free will and know right from wrong, why shouldn't we be judgable?
That's why:
1.) I see where Dawkins is coming from... makes perfect sense to me given certain "versions" of God.
Yes, you are sympathetic to his position.
2.) Dawkins position (assuming atheism means rejecting any possibility of God) makes no sense... one can only reject something they know about... Why would he bother?
He hates God. Probably because of the reason I gave.
OTOH, I'm sure he could debate and win a logical argument
He's emotionally driven by fear and hatred. He's incapable of logic when it comes to God and religion.
IMHO that's why Jesus, Lao Tzu, and other "saints and sages" spoke in general, and parable like ways.
I'll just roll my eyes and let that pass without comment.
What is true at this place in time is false in another... like quantum physics.
Quantum physics is seized on a grounding for a lot of mumbo-jumbo. |
