I agree about Hersey's book. Also, the same about the movie: "The Thin Red Line" which only got a 78 on Rotten....I think it is a 105. The 'waiting for the enemy' created unbearable tension at times. Jim Caveziel was more Christ-like in this movie than in Mel Gibson's. At the end it does not take a moral position as to which side is more right.
