Your friend is right. I'm doing project consulting here as my daytime job, so this is a field where I got some experience, too.

ATI is good. But nVIDIA Riva128 is even better. (in terms of performance). Creative is dead in Graphic cards, unlike in the soundcard scene.

I would give TDDDF a close look, too. ATI ran up 50% already. Too high to enter again, but TDDDF (don't know whether it's optionable) got a winning design in its pocket that's being released next month, called the "permedia2".

SIII just got hot air for us, next product out in about 4-5 months.
