We are well into the process of shifting into an oligarchy controlled by business and so-called experts. I think you are leaving out the most important oligarchs - the political classes. "Experts" and businesses cannot force us to do things; politicians can. If politicians didn't have the power to "deliver" for the special interests, those special interests would not be spending big bucks in order to "buy" politicians. Both the cure and prevention for the corporatist malaise is limited government.
