Please explain how subjecting everyone to the the level currently "enjoyed" by the least cared for is a good thing.

I have had occasion to discuss single-payer, Medicare, etc. with a number of people who advocate such on this thread and on others. In every single case where we got into this issue, those individuals assumed that there would be private, supplemental coverage, which they expected to purchase, yet they concurrently felt that the single-payer coverage would be good coverage, unlike Medicaid. I was never able to break through that inconsistency. If it's such good coverage, then why would one need a supplemental? And what about those who couldn't afford the supplemental? They would effectively end up being on Medicaid where the rest of us had private insurance to fill the holes. That's a long way to go to end up still with a two-tiered system.
