TL, you seem to know a lot about investing. I have a question. If you called your broker and asked if you could "sell 1000 shares of MSFT long", what do you think his response would be?

1. Laughter
2. Kick you back to the beginner's help line
3. Ask you to clarify what selling long means
4. Tell you, "Sure, I've seen it done before. Some guy sold 100,000 shares of a stock to obtain a long position once".
5. Tell you, "long, short, it doesn't matter - you can wipe with either".

I would give it a rest, but any time a long shareholder even gives the slightest impression of failing to dot an "i" or cross a "t", we hear about it from the naysayers endlessly.

It's only fair that when a naysayer tells us that there is no difference between an "i" and a "t", we should be able to call them on it and demand some honesty from their office.
