Back in the 70s I moved to Boston and began putting myself through music school. The school itself was in downtown just a few blocks from Symphony Hall... I had no idea just how much my nerves were fraying from all the city noise and the music I was being exposed to every day, until I rented a farm house with a friend in Vermont the next summer. We didn't have a neighbor for at least a quarter mile and the farm was at the end of a long country lane. The first night I spent there I was almost disturbed by the lack of noise.

So I was sitting in our living room soaking up the silence when I hear this crunch crunch at my feet. I look down and it's our cat who's caught a mouse and was munching on its head..... Turns out our cat had a quirk that, not only was he a great mouser but he had the curious habit of eating his catch at your feet no matter where he caught it....
