The bottom line is that the GOP is responsible for $9 trillion of the $12 trillion of debt on the books.

The bottom line is that statement is mostly false.

Your ignoring the role of congress, and of the policies of previous presidents.

Most of the spending is from entitlements, the overwhelming majority of that spending was passed by Democratic congresses and signed in to law by Democratic presidents.

Then more recently the Republican presidents you bash for having high debt often had Democrats in partial or full control of congress. Reagan never had full Republican control of congress. Bush had his highest spending and deficit years after the Democrats took over.

Another bottom line is that the two presidents with the highest post civil war deficits in terms of percentage of GDP where Democrats (and perhaps the three highest ever, I don't have data that goes back far enough), and Obama is going to move in to position number three. Reagan is number four but Obama's deficits will be noticeably higher than Reagan's.
