If the "leak" info of #2849 comes true, the press release of Friday doesn't spare them from investigation (because it would have had to have been leaked for us to know it, unless someone is psychic!) Therefore, I believe at this point that they are not so worried about "true" leaks.
However, I do believe now that they are worried about the stock trading up on false rumors, which may trigger lawsuits if the stock were to tumble at some future point. I don't know if people remember Pat's post of #3429 in which she stated:

<<In my post of 8/20, I said Amati had a contract with Hong Kong Telephone and several days later found out the deal wasn't "inked" as my friend had been told. (Since then I've heard so many variations on the story I don't know what's true and what isn't.) The other discrepency has to do with LSI being a vendor and not a partner. (They make chips for Amati.) As you can well imagine, I'm being extremely careful about posting information that's given to me.>>

I think we are dealing with at least some overreaching rumors/hype. I think there's a good chance that it may be a case similar to the game "telephone" where one person whispers what he thinks he has heard to a new person and so forth. At the core of these whispers is some fact, that often gets lost in the translation (read: the Hong Kong deal may have some basis in reality but not quite what was reported.) I think Amati has great technology and will have a great future, but I am no longer trading as if #2849 is more than 50% true (maybe more irrelevant than negative in importance). I still value, however, info placed on SI in good faith, like Pat's.

My 2›,

Richard
