Neither of these individuals (Stewart or Colbert) is "serious". There are a vast number of mind-numbed teenyboppers who see this as "news" -- and they are the same people who saw the youtube video as "news". What actually occurs is manipulation of impressionable minds. The original youtube, as Colbert points out, manipulated a huge number of minds. And Cobert, himself, does the same on a daily basis by presenting serious issues as comedy.
