a small disputatious point, Scrapps - "modems made by Lucent Technologies Inc -- the other maker, beside 3Com, of modems that use 56k technology." Rockwell doesn't make modem assemblies, just the chipsets, whereas I believe Lucent makes the finished product as well as chipsets. Did LU have an edge as an AT&T offspring, as your post suggests? possibly... Dee Jay
