$1 trillion for wars in the last 10 years and then we get all bent out of shape when our government tries to do something good for American health care. How does that make sense?

I didn't approve of the war expenditures, either, but that doesn't mean I would have spent those funds to support a new entitlement for health care. I don't think it makes any more sense to pay for the health expenses of those who haven't taken care of or provided for themselves. My own sense of citizenship is that it's the first responsibility of any citizen to not be a weight on society. That's the way I live my life. Some people are born disabled or struck by lightning. They have no choice. The rest of us have a choice whether to be a net positive or a net negative. Throwing communal money at the willful negatives makes no more sense to me than throwing it at Iraqis.
