Well, I spent my first 41 years working my ass off and never really cared much about politics. I voted GOP in a daze. The GOP always seemed honorable and sane to me. Plus, I bought the bullshit that they were fiscally conservative. I, like you, have spent a lifetime busting my ass and saving every penny and don't like big spenders, private or government. But unlike you, I don't believe the GOP is any better. Fact is that they are responsible for most of the debt on the books today, although the Dems are on track to catch up with them now. After 9/11, I went into a period of fanatical news watching and have read everything I can get my hands on related to politics and all the issues. I wish 9/11 had never happened, because now I know too much and worry about too much. After I learned alot more and started getting disgusted by all the spending and wars the GOP lead us to, while increasing our oil addiction, I finally had enough and voted Dem.

As far as foreign policy, Reagan, Bush Sr, and Clinton were pros. Bush Jr was an unmitigated disaster. Junior was a clown and a buffoon and he did immeasurable damage to this country. Obama is also a pro. He just doesn't believe in the same things as you do. You think it's necessary to maintain a nuclear arsenal capable of destroying the earth several times over. I and Obama think reducing that arsenal down to enough to only destroy the earth one time over is plenty smart, because it costs money to maintain an multiple earth killing arsenal.

As far as parties, I also don't give a shit about party loyalty anymore. I will vote for good candidates, regardless of what party they come from, because my loyalty is to country first, not to a party.

And as for the Tea Party, those folks don't know what the hell they want. They want small government and they don't want to pay taxes for entitlements, but then they also want to get those entitlements like social security. They are just another bunch of fanatical sheep getting played by uber morons like Palin, Beck and Limbaugh.
