(What that article said though has been pretty widely-held knowledge for many years: Some of the people swept up in the early days of the war in Afghanistan were not captured by Americans at all.... Were simply handed over to us for the cash rewards, and some were simply bandits or drug traders or what-have-you who were RIVALS of the people who grabbed 'em and handed them over. Not "all" but "some". They were "eliminating the competition" and collecting a $5000 cash payment at the same time....)
