I think Obama's team have finally decided that they gain more political value by letting GS face the music than the value of the WS contributions that they will lose. I think they're right (and it also helps that it is the right thing to do). It's going to be tremendously enjoyable to watch the Republicans defend GS and the other crooks against the "socialist" administration and their attempts to re-regulate WS.
