Thanks for the reply, Botox, but I was hoping for a bit more evocative plan.

I've done some reading, and more thinking about what an individual can do to prepare for some massive crisis. Preparation depends on what a person's scenario might be.

The theme that seems to permeate this thread is some sort of global takeover of economic systems, and thus political systems. If that happens, given the massive information databases already in existence, an individual who has ever been part of the system won't be able "hide" and wait for better times.

If things get to the point of needing gold to survive, ownership of gold will probably be illegal (a la FDR in the 30s). Use of PM will be because of distrust of a fiat currency, and will be a black market enterprise. Black markets require networks of participants (elsewise it wouldn't be a "market"), and each additional participant exponentially increases the likelihood of detection and infiltration by whatever powers made the activity illegal to begin with.

If the scenario followed here comes to pass, and I'm not denying the veracity of that possibility, those in power will want to enrich themselves, not destroy all means of production and labor. So, I'd think that it would be nearly impossible to "opt out" of the new system, at least for any length of time.

I return to my analogy of my first post here, that of being on an airplane at 35,000 feet, and losing all engines on the airplane. You know that you're about to crash, and have 20 minutes to think about it, but there really isn't anything you can do except wait for external forces to tear you asunder.

Thanks also for the suggestion to listen to Alex Jones. He isn't on any of the broadcast stations I can get here, but I'll try to listen to his webcasts when I have time.
