Several of the smaller electrics like Tesla and Fisker would be in dire straits now without the substantial government money they got. Same with the battery manufacturers. The fact remains that just about ALL the major and minor players are getting government money. These cars are expensive because of the battery cost, hence the tax credits. The Feds are trying to get the tech moving, as they have in the past with so many other technologies...
